An olive tree generously donated by Servest Garden Services was ceremoniously planted at Rand Aid’s Thornhill Manor retirement village on 29 August.
Servest looks after Rand Aid’s gardens each year donates a tree to each village and assists with digging the hole and planting the tree, in celebration of Arbor Week.
The Thornhill Manor event was attended by residents and members of the village garden club, whose chairwoman, Wendy Hunt, made all the arrangements. Resident Charles Power gave a relevant reading and prayer, before each attendee shovelled a spade of dirt into the hole for the tree to flourish. Tea and cake, catered for by village residents, was enjoyed afterwards.
