Gail and Ron Mann were full of festive cheer at their first Thornhill Manor Christmas Dinner Dance on December 5. “They raved about the meal, which was prepared and served by Steve Burton of Cookchill, which is Rand Aid’s in-house catering division,” says Jackie Scott, the deputy manager of the Rand Aid-run retirement lifestyle village. “Ron said he made sure he scraped all the liver pâté out of his ramekin because it was so delicious. The décor was headed up by Thornhill Manor’s new Décor Committee co-ordinator, long-time resident Enid Dixon, who is a specialist in floral design. The theme was ‘Poinsettias and Christmas Trees’. There was a record attendance of 150 residents this year,” says Jackie. Rudi van Niekerk provided the musical entertainment and brought the room to laughter with a couple of great jokes.
